Understanding Meta Work

What is Meta Work? Good question. Meta work is work that does not directly contribute to the actual product. It could be anything from meetings, reporting, all the way to taking notes. Email is a killer. Meta work may or may not be a bad thing depending on the situation. Meta work exists to support the actual delivery of the product. Some level of meta work is required for the success of product delivery.

We try to eliminate as many meetings as we can if it does not add to productivity. Or any other related work that does not contribute directly, for that matter.
